Remote work is the new way of life for millions of people around the world — for many, we’ve entered entirely unknown territory. The question is, will people who have never before worked remote be able to transition and maintain productivity?
While there are certainly benefits to working from home — you don’t have to leave the house or your pajamas, more time to hang with your dog, fewer distractions than working in an open office, and a flexible schedule — the downside is that you’re separated physically from co-workers. This makes meeting, collaborating, and communicating more complicated.
The solution? A collaboration hub coupled with a video chat platform. Luckily, we’ve got the ideal combination: Hive + Zoom. Hive and Zoom’s integration allows you to start Zoom meetings directly from the Hive app — this integration has helped hundreds of people stay connected during the remote work transition, and helped businesses around the world communicate effectively.
To get started, you need to enable Zoom as an app in Hive Apps, which you can access by clicking on “Hive apps” in your user photo dropdown on the right hand side of the app window.
Once you’ve enabled the app, there are two ways to start a Zoom meeting from inside Hive.
- Clicking the Zoom button at the top of the chat panel
- Typing “/zoom” followed by a meeting name into the messages panel
Once you’ve done that, Zoom meetings will start and share automatically to all Hive users in the group the meeting was started in. Additionally, the meeting will be logged in your Zoom account.
